2013 Season
The 2012-2013 season marks Suzuki Talent Education of Appalachia’s 45th year of providing outstanding music education to the region. The first tour group of Japanese Suzuki students came to the U.S. in 1964, changing the course of music education around the world. Our program, then called Kingsport Suzuki Association, began in 1967 with one teacher and ten young students. Since that time, STEA teachers and parents have given the gift of music to thousands of students in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.
STEA students have gone on to study music on the college level and work as professional musicians; while many others have participated in community orchestras, or become appreciative audience members and supporters of the arts. Outstanding parents have volunteered their time to serve on our Board of Directors or support the program in a myriad of ways.
A workshop and concert celebration of STEA’s 45th anniversary, featuring STEA faculty and students, is planned for Winter 2013. In the coming weeks, more exciting details will be announced regarding this anniversary celebration
