2013 Holiday Concert

Next month, on December 10, 7 PM, STEA is presenting a Holiday Concert at First Presbyterian Church (Kingsport) which will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank! We will be collecting Food Items or donations which will be used by the Food Bank to help those in need this Christmas season.

One of the great things about this concert is that it is a group concert. Every semester STEA holds solo recitals, but we have not always had a group recital every year. I am really excited that the students get to present a performance as an ensemble, as this is a key part of the Suzuki Philosophy – where students learn not only from the instructors, but from each other.

Another great thing is that this concert primarily features Christmas Carols. Carols are handy because they are pieces of music that many people have heard. Even folks who aren’t classical music fans are able to appreciate and recognize these tunes.

A third great thing is that not only are we featuring the stringed instruments of STEA, but the concert will also include the vocal talents of Mark Owen Davis! Mr. Davis is the Music Director of First Presbyterian and a high-class operatic singer, and we are thrilled that he is performing with us in the concert.

Perhaps most importantly, this concert will help the hungry and those in need by collecting food items, along with other donations, for Second Harvest Food Bank. Tis the Season, and may we who have been given much, give to others as we are able.
